K. Strategies for Culturally Responsive Healthcare
April Lewis
In a society as diverse as the United States some racial and ethnic groups are in poorer health, suffer worse outcomes, and have higher rates of disease and mortality than the rest of the population. How do well-meaning and highly educated health professionals create patterns of care that appear to be discriminatory? What is culturally responsive and appropriate care and how can it improve health outcomes? This interactive session will address these questions and review cutting edge tools, strategies, and resources designed to ensure that a patient’s cultural needs are considered and respected at every point of contact.
