Academic Credit for SIIC

(EPFA 410/510, 2-3 Quarter Credits)

Undergraduate and graduate credit is offered cooperatively by the Intercultural Communication Institute and Portland State University, Continuing Education/Graduate School of Education with the School of Extended Studies.

SIIC participants may earn 2 quarter credits for Session I (July 15-17) or III b (July 27-29) and 3 quarter credits for each of Sessions II (July 20-24) or III a (July 27-31). The course title is "Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication" EPFA 410/510.

To earn academic credit, participants must attend workshops full-time, read assigned material following the workshops, and complete a written project due, without exception, before November 2, 2009. Papers will be graded Fall Term, by December 17, 2009.

FEES

The fee for academic credit is in addition to the tuition and is paid directly to SIIC prior to arrival or during registration. Academic credit fees are non-refundable.

The fees for academic credit are:

2 credits (Sessions I and III b)
$220.00
3 credits (Sessions II and III a)
$275.00

In order to register to take a workshop for credit, participants must attend a Credit Information Meeting during SIIC. These meetings will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 16; Tuesday, July 21; and Tuesday, July 28. The meetings will be held near the Commons.

Continuing Education Credits (CEC) or Units (CEU)

Many SIIC workshops also qualify for the continuing education units required by various professional groups (teachers, attorneys, etc.). Please contact ICI for more information about this opportunity.
