Transportation Information - Getting to Reed College
I. FLYING TO PORTLAND: Getting to Reed from Portland International Airport (PDX) should be an easy and comfortable process. Once you have collected your luggage, you should head for Reed College by one of the methods described below. If you are arriving on campus after midnight, please let us know.
Public Transportation: Take Tri-Met MAX light rail from the airport for $2.05. Signs in the Baggage Claim area will direct you to the MAX station, where tickets can be purchased. Take the MAX to the downtown stop of SW Morrison and SW 3rd Ave. Turn north on SW 3rd Ave., and walk two blocks to the corner of SW 3rd Ave. and Washington to catch the #10 bus to Reed. The #10 bus runs from 6:00 AM to 8:34 PM from downtown to SE Steele, which borders the north side of the Reed campus. Exit the bus on SE Steele at SE 33rd Ave. Walk to the entrance of the Reed College North Parking Lot. Walk through the parking lot and follow the pink SIIC signs to Sullivan Hall.

The time needed to get to campus varies; plan on an hour and a half total. To find out when the next bus runs, call 503/238-RIDE, or check online at www.trimet.org. (Please note that if you go to the Reed College webpage for bus transportation information, their information has not been updated to reflect recent route changes.) If you have any problems, call Franki at 971-235-0419.
Van or Taxi: Taking a van or taxi from the airport to Reed College is easy; travel time is 20-30 minutes. Go to the airport taxi-limousine area to wait for a taxi. Cab fare to Reed is approximately $35. Ask the driver to take I-205 to the SE Powell exit. Ask to be taken to Reed via SE Steele, and to the North Parking Lot, at SE 33rd Ave. and Steele. From either of the two parking areas, follow the pink SIIC signs to Sullivan Hall. (If you arrive after midnight ask the driver to take you to the main entrance on the south side of campus to security.)
The Blue Star Airporter (503/249-1837) will take you from the airport to campus for $28.75. The shuttle leaves the airport every half-hour. Travel time is 20-30 minutes. The roundtrip fare is $52.75. Other services are available, but this one is suggested by Reed College.
II. TAKING THE TRAIN OR BUS: Arriving at the Portland Train or Bus Station (they are within a block of each other) will provide good connections to Reed College as well.
From the Portland Train or Bus Station, walk about 2 blocks southwest to the corner of NW Hoyt Ave. and NW Broadway. Take the #9 bus (leaving about every 15 minutes) and get off at the corner of SW 3rd Ave. and SW Alder. Stay at that stop and take the #19 bus (leaving about every 15 minutes) to SE Woodstock. The #19 bus will drop you off at the main entrance of Reed campus (south side). Walk north through campus, over the footbridge and follow the pink SIIC signs to Sullivan Hall. (For an alternate route, see instructions above for bus #10. It will drop you off on the north side of campus closer to Sullivan Hall, but it does not run as often.)

III. DRIVING TO CAMPUS: Driving to campus is relatively easy, but will depend on where you are coming from. To help you make the trip more manageable, we are including some driving directions provided by Reed College.
From the Airport
By car, take I-205 south to the SE Powell Blvd. exit. Travel west on Powell to SE 39th Ave. Turn left (south) on 39th Ave., passing through several major intersections until you reach SE Steele. Turn right (west) on Steele. You will soon see the Reed soccer fields on your left. Just before the fields, turn left into the North Parking Lot (SE 33rd and Steele). Park in either of the two lots and follow the pink SIIC signs to Sullivan Hall.
From Downtown Portland
By car, take SW Alder to the Morrison Bridge. At the east end of the bridge, turn right onto 99East/Martin Luther King Blvd; this will become 99East/McLoughlin Blvd. From 99E/McLoughlin Blvd., take the Eastmoreland/Reed College exit. Just off the exit, turn right (east) onto SE Bybee Blvd. Veer left (north) onto SE 28th Ave. [the Eastmoreland Golf Course will be on your left (west)], and drive north to the intersection of SE 28th Ave. and SE Woodstock Blvd. Turn left at this 3-way stop and continue on SE 28th Ave., driving along the western border of the Reed campus until you come to the stop sign at SE Steele. Turn right on Steele, following the northern border of campus. Just after the soccer fields, turn right into the North Parking Lot (SE 33rd and Steele). Park in either of the two lots and follow the pink SIIC signs to Sullivan Hall.
[To return to downtown Portland, go west on SE Steele Blvd back to SE 28th Ave. Go right (north) on 28th and travel north to SE Holgate Ave. Turn left (west) onto SE Holgate for about 20 blocks (Holgate will end) and turn right (north) onto 99E/McLoughlin Blvd. Take a left on the Morrison Bridge over the river into downtown.]
General Driving Directions
From the north on I-5 —Take the I-84 East exit (#301), then the 39th Ave. exit (#2). Turn right (south). Travel 3.5 miles, passing through several major intersections until you reach SE Steele Blvd. Turn right (west) on Steele. You will soon see the Reed soccer fields on your left. Just before the fields, turn left into the North Parking Lot (SE 33rd Ave. and Steele). Park in either of the two lots and follow the pink SIIC signs to Sullivan Hall.
From the south on I-5 —Take the Ross Island Bridge exit and follow the signs to cross the bridge. At the east end of the bridge, take the 99East/Milwaukie exit. Follow 99E (McLoughlin Blvd.) to the Eastmoreland/Reed College exit. Just off the exit, turn right (east) onto SE Bybee Blvd. Veer left (north) onto SE 28th Ave. [the Eastmoreland Golf Course will now be on your left (west)], and drive north to the intersection of SE 28th Ave. and SE Woodstock Blvd. Turn left at this 3-way stop and continue on SE 28th Ave., driving along the western border of the Reed campus until you come to the stop sign at SE Steele.
